Gregory Bartoszek, Ph.D. (Director)
Dr. Bartoszek received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) after completing an APA-accredited internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Trauma Services Program at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital before joining William Paterson University as Assistant Professor of Psychology. Together with Dr. Daniel Cervone at UIC, Dr. Bartoszek developed and validated the Implicit Measure of Distinct Emotional States (IMDES; you can download the measure here and read the paper describing it here). Overall, his research interests include the interplay between (implicit) cognitive and emotional processes in general and within affective psychopathology in particular. Graduate Students
Irena Curanovic, B.A.
Irena Curanovic is a first-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at William Paterson University. While attending Manhattanville College for her undergraduate degree, Irena worked as a research assistant in the Cognition Lab at Yale University. There, she helped examine the effects of inhibition of return in younger (18-29 years old) and older adults (65+ years old). During this time, Irena also designed and conducted her own research study at Manhattanville College examining the effects of emotion on working memory processes. After graduating with a BA in Psychology, Irena became an ABA Therapist and worked with children on the Autism Spectrum for a few years before moving on to be a Mental Health Worker at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital. Overall, Irena’s research interests include emotional processes within severe psychopathology, as well as investigating therapeutic techniques in order to deliver empirically supported treatments. |

Margaret Jacoup is a senior undergraduate student pursuing her bachelor's degree in psychology. She joined the laboratory in October of 2018 to further her knowledge and understanding of emotions and decision making. When she graduates in 2020, Margaret plans to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology. |
