Gregory Bartoszek, Ph.D. (Director)
Dr. Bartoszek received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) after completing an APA-accredited internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Trauma Services Program at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. Subsequently, he served as Assistant Professor in the Psy.D. Program in Clinical Psychology at William Paterson University between 2018 and 2022 before joining the Ph.D Program in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Together with Dr. Daniel Cervone at UIC, Dr. Bartoszek developed and validated the Implicit Measure of Distinct Emotional States (IMDES; you can request the measure here and read the paper describing it here). Overall, his research interests include the interplay between (implicit) cognitive and emotional processes in general and within affective psychopathology. Julia Zagaroli, M.A (Manager)
Julia is a second-year Ph.D. student in Clinical psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She graduated with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a B.A. in Neuroscience from Boston University. She previously served as a clinical research coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital for the Pediatric Neuropsychiatry and Immunology Program, where she studied pediatric Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Her research interests include transdiagnostic factors in psychiatric disorders, treatment mechanisms, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. |

Sophia Capellini, M.A.
Sophia is a second-year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She received her BA in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross and her MA in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Previously, she worked as a research coordinator at the University of California, Los Angeles, for an early intervention study for toddlers with autism. At Teachers College, she worked in the Regulation of Emotion in Anxiety and Depression Lab, studying components of Emotion Regulation Therapy, and the Loss, Trauma, and Emotion Lab, examining emotion regulation strategy use across various contexts. Her research interests include transdiagnostic cognition and emotion processes in anxiety and mood disorders as well as evidence-based treatment mechanisms. |

Daniel Craft, M.A.
Daniel is a third-year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He received his bachelor’s degree at the College of New Jersey and his Master of Applied Psychology from Rutgers. He has worked as a Research Coordinator for two years at the NeuroCognition and Emotion Lab at New York State Psychiatric Institute. The lab focuses on investigating the neurological underpinnings of the interaction between cognition and emotion using fMRI, EEGs and cognitive assessments. He is interested in improving current cognitive behavioral treatments while uncovering the mechanisms of efficacy. He is also interested in the creation and use of cognitive assessments for transdiagnostic symptoms of psychopathology. |

Noémie Kloucek, M.A.
Noémie is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She graduated with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Previously, she was a Research Assistant in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric Institute under Dr. Schneier and in the Culture and Health Promotion of Minority Youth and Families under Dr. Huang. For the past three years, Noémie worked at the Young Adult Institute as a Clinical Team Lead overseeing the Manhattan START/CSIDD crisis intervention program for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities. During her time, she was awarded the 2022 National START Team Lead Award and her research poster examining the Implications of Psychiatric Diagnosis and Polypharmacy for Frequent START Crisis Line Utilization won first place at the 2022 START National Training Institute. Noémie’s current research interests include examining the relationship between protective and risk factors in vulnerable populations who have experienced traumas and the impact this has on the etiology and treatment of anxiety disorders. She is also interested in the development of psychological interventions that focus on trauma rehabilitation for vulnerable populations. |

Olivia Lawrence, M.A.
Olivia Lawrence is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Clinical Psychology program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She earned her B.A. from New York University and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to beginning doctoral training, she coordinated research projects studying cognitive and motivational risk factors for adolescent suicide at Columbia University and worked on clinical trials studying mechanisms of change in Emotion Regulation Therapy. Olivia’s research focuses on the cognitive and affective processes underlying the development and maintenance of affective psychopathology and related outcomes such as suicide, with the aim of informing more precise and mechanism-targeted interventions. |

Weronika Skoczylas, M.A.
Weronika is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She graduated with a BA from Rutgers University. Subsequently, she completed her MA in 2021 at Teachers College, Columbia University where she became certified in the Facial Action Coding System (FACS) to explore the role played by emotions in moderating how aversive events impact people's lives. Her research interests include exploring the physiological and cognitive mechanisms of affective regulation within trauma. |

Elena Wu, M.A.
Elena is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She graduated with an M.A. in Forensic Psychology and an M.A. in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Currently, Elena teaches courses in Forensic Psychology as an adjunct professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey. She has worked at Rikers Island and all five of the NYC criminal courts with individuals suffering from complex issues, such as mental illness, substance abuse, and trauma. Additionally, Elena has experience as a research assistant for a three-year federally funded study at Rutgers University under the supervision of Dr. Weili Lu investigating PTSD and educational outcomes/barriers among students in post-secondary education. Simultaneously, she designed and conducted a project that focused on the intersectional oppression of the Asian American identity as it relates to mental illness and the potentially associated stigma under the guidance of Dr. Philip Yanos. Presently, Elena is interested in integrating racial equity into trauma-informed approaches, PTSD, mental health comorbidities of depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as the impact of trauma on an individual’s cognitive, behavioral, and physical aspects. |

Sami is a second-year Master’s student at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He earned his B.A. in Psychology and Neuroscience from Drew University in 2024, where he studied cocaine-induced sensitization and related locomotor activity in female mice to better understand neurobiological aspects of addiction. His research interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience and psychology, focusing on how neural circuits and systems shape emotion and psychopathology. |
