Gregory Bartoszek, Ph.D. (Director)
Dr. Bartoszek received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) after completing an APA-accredited internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Trauma Services Program at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital before joining William Paterson University as Assistant Professor of Psychology. Together with Dr. Daniel Cervone at UIC, Dr. Bartoszek developed and validated the Implicit Measure of Distinct Emotional States (IMDES; you can request the measure here and read the paper describing it here). Overall, his research interests include the interplay between (implicit) cognitive and emotional processes in general and within affective psychopathology. Graduate Students
Irena Curanovic, B.A. (Lab Manager)
Irena is a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at William Paterson University. While attending Manhattanville College for her undergraduate degree, Irena worked as a research assistant in the Cognition Lab at Yale University. During this time, Irena also designed and conducted her own research study at Manhattanville College examining the effects of emotion on working memory processes. After graduating with a BA in Psychology, Irena became an ABA Therapist and worked with children on the Autism Spectrum for a few years before moving on to be a Mental Health Worker at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital. Currently, Irena is interested in exploring implicit as well as explicit emotional processes involved in dissociative experiences. |
Nancy Bzadough, M.A.
Nancy is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Program at William Paterson University. She graduated with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Public Health in 2018. In her research, Nancy explores the effects of depression and anxiety on medication adherence. By examining various aspects of decision-making, she attempts to identify risk factors contributing to non-adherence. Her goal is to help develop therapeutic approaches that would increase medication adherence based on these factors. |
Stephen Costello, B.A.
Stephen is a third-year Psy.D. student in the Clinical Psychology Program at William Paterson University. He graduated with a BA in psychology from Fairfield University. After moving to Las Vegas, he joined the Human Memory Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) studying the memory updating process known as reconsolidation. At UNLV, he also worked as a research assistant in the Inner Experience Sampling Laboratory. There, he helped compare and contrast the accuracy of different experience sampling methodologies. Stephen’s research interests include rehabilitation from trauma and how alexithymia affects psychopathology. |
Jane Gorman, B.S.
Jane is a second-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at William Paterson University. While attending Fordham University for her undergraduate degree, Jane worked as a research assistant in the Mood and Behaviors Lab, which investigated non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). During this time, Jane also completed and defended an Honors Thesis examining the differences between individuals who want to stop self-injuring and those who do not. After graduating with a BS in Psychology, Jane became a clinical research coordinator for psychopharmacological trials for treatment-resistant depression and schizophrenia. |
Frank Luo, B.S.
Frank is a second-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at William Paterson University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 2015. Afterwards, he worked as a research assistant at the Kessler Foundation, where he performed neuropsychological assessment and interventions on older adults (65+ years old) and subjects who had suffered traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). While working, he volunteered as a listener for Caring Contact crisis hotline and as a tutor at Northern State Prison through the Petey Greene program. |
Taylor Pitt, B.A.
Taylor is a first-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at William Paterson University. Before she graduated in May of 2021 from Rutgers University, Taylor completed an Honors Thesis looking at the presence of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in the student populations and its hypothesized effects on stress and student function. She also worked as a research assistant and lab manager in a few labs on campus. Overall, Taylor's clinical and research interests include anxiety disorders, with specific interest in compulsive behaviors. |
Hannah Schorpp, M.A.
Hannah is a fourth-year Psy.D. student in the Clinical Psychology Program at William Paterson University. After graduating with a joint BA/MA from John Jay College, Hannah spent several years working for a county-level domestic violence agency as a liaison to child welfare. Her research interests include intimate partner violence in adolescent and young adult romantic relationships and bystander education to prevent relationship violence. Her dissertation focuses on examining racial differences in bystander intervention for college campus sexual assault. |

Olesia Muravizki, MPH
Olesia is a second-year graduate student in the Clinical and Counseling Psychology Master’s program at William Paterson University. She has completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and has worked in mental health research at the University of Maryland, where she co-authored several papers on mood-disorders, seasonal suicidality and schizophrenia. Olesia also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from George Washington University. Her master’s thesis paper focused on the adverse childhood experiences of children of opioid-dependent parents. Going forward, Olesia’s passion and purpose are dedicated to the psychosocial enhancement of the human experience on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and relational. |
